As part of a support partnership with a large multinational beverage company, an infield agricultural value chain optimization was required in order to identify key bottlenecks in the value chain.

Farmer’s Harvest of Sunflower Seeds
Informal hedging – pictured is a farmer’s harvest of sunflower seeds which he stored and is now delivering to the village aggregator. Few farmers in central Tanzania are able to afford this as the opportunity cost of storing and marketing the sunflower seeds out of season far outweighs the need for immediate cash flow at harvest time to cover input debt.
